
Ghosts and spirits are related to supernatural world so they are rarely seen to anyone , someone comes across to them and someone feel their existence , some experience their both forms and someone feel nothing . The spirit or ghosts are of many kinds according to conditions in which they died spirit of a murdered person is called marua preta , the spirits which comes from a relation is known as dhiyan or dhiyanta preta . In mythologies many instances of war between the divine and the demonic forces are described besides some other super human beings like apsaras and other angels , yakshas , kinnara , gandharvas etc are also discussed the attendants on lord shiva are named as rudra ganas another variety of celestial beings , in sanskrit the word preta is used to describe the spirit of the dead and bootha for the ghosts there are many references to preatas , boothas and other texts on dharma shastra pls refer garuda purana / preta khanda and bhagvad gita chapter 8 & 9 .
According to poorva parashariyam chapter 14 sl 21 to 25 the planets posited in badhakasthanas indicte the source of affiction to a native that is sun gives health realted problems due to booth ganas of lord shiva budha gives problems due to wrath of yaksha , kinnara , gandharvas , venus gives diseases due to the cure of yakshas and brahma rakshasas and saturn causes afflictions due to spirits and ghosts . Chapter 19 of krishneeyam deals with queries related to badhas from invisible spirits and rules for the identification in sloka 2 the different devganas and their signification by planets is as follows
1 ) Planet Sun Devgana spirit / group signified by it Indra
2 ) Planet Moon Devgana spirit / group signified by it Nagagana
3 ) Planet Mars Devgana spirit / group signified by it Rakshasa
4 ) Planet Mercury Devgana spirit / group signified by it Kinnara
5 ) Planet Jupiter Devgana spirit / group signified by it Bhuthagana
6 ) Planet Venus Devgana spirit / group signified by it Yaksha
7 ) Planet Saturn Devgana spirit / group signified by it Pisacha
In prasna marga chapter 15 sl 56 to 59 certain spots have been identified as places of frequent visit by the spirits and attack of evil eye they are caves , rocky places , tops of hills , forests , gardens summits of mountains , brinks of tanks , & ponds , sides of wells , river confluences , whirls , cowsheds , vacant houses , isolated trees , cremation ground , ruined temples , treasure troves spots , centres of highways , outskrits of villages , places where female deities are worshipped , places of pilgrimage , palatial mansions normally spirits ghosts are said to be more active during noon , sandhya kalas and midnight 12 pm to 3 am .
Spirits These are souls of person who die a normal death after completing their life term , they have a separate world of existence at three levels as punyaloka , madhyaloka & papaloka , they can move very freely to any place at any time without any restriction both in spirit world and material world , they cannot be seen by us they help their family members , relatives and human beings to get rid of problems in health , finance , relationship issues etc , they feel happy by seeing people who are happy and seek the welfare of people , they are capable of doing good deeds for further evolution to higher levels of existence according to prasna marga chapter 15 the spirits are classified into 3 types depending on their motives behind causing afflictions as hanthu kami , rathi kami , & bali kami while the intention of hanthukami spirits is murdering the victim , the ratikami spirits seek only sexual gatification from the victim , balikami spirits seek the pleasures of eating and drinking through the victims , in a horary chart if there is relationship between teh lords of badhaksthana and the ascendant it indicates that the spirits need sexual gratification if there is an association of badhaka lord of dussthanas 6, 8 , 12 it shows that the purpose of the spirits is destruction and if the badhaka lord is assocaited with any house lord it means that the purpose is eating & drinking only . Trees like tamarind are potential locations for occupancy by spirits , pepal trees which are inhabited by spirits .
Ghosts these are souls of persons who meet with abnormal / untimely death due different reasons such as accidents , suicides , murders etc , their existence is restricted to the place of death and they keep hovering about in its close vicinity , they cannot move to other locations on their own but they may be carried to new locations by the body of the people possessed by them , ghosts and apparitions can be seen by some people , they adversely affect the body and mind of people possessed by them because they seek gratification of their unfinished desires through the latter , they feel sad by seeing people moving around freely and happiluy and repent that they do not have such happiness , they are in wait to get freedom from their present stage and will be lamenting about their plight .
In jataka parijata ch 12 sl 142 it is said that a native’s house could be either crazy or a haunted one if in his chart i 4th lord is occupying 6th , 8th , or 12 th house or ii 4th house is occupied by an evil planet with strength .
In horary chart preta sharpa is indicated by the position of an afflicted mandi badhakasthana or in 6th , 8th or 12th house , if ascendant its lord arudha & its lord amrs , saturn , or ketu and if mandi is involved in these combinations then it indicates pretabadha In sirpa ratnakaram tamil the following information is available i the door screeches like an oil grinder more female ghosts will affect the house ( quarto 1130 ) , if the star of the house happens to be vishaka it causes fear of ghosts ( quarto 458 ) , if the main door of the building is kept in the portion ruled by rahu & ketu then adverse spirits and ghosts will enter into the buildings and cause problems teh building may be subjected to evil influence ( quarto 936 ) , if a house is contructed on a land with shalya dosha it would give room for evil influences ( quarto 587 ) , if there is veethi shoola by a temple road or there is a beggars shelter / chattiram opposite to teh building is next to a shelter for homeless / chaavadi then teh family tree will end and ghosts will enter the house (quarto 384 ) if these afflicting agents are at least 100 feet away it is no problem ( quarto 403 ) , if the main door of a building is kept in the portion ruled by mars the spirits and ghosts will be entering into the building ( quarto 931 ) .
According to saravali a native suffers from problems in child /loss of children due to curse of spirits / preatshapa if 8th lord in 5th house conjoined with saturn & venus with jupiter in 8th house , saturn and rahu conjoined in the ascendant sun in 8th & mars in 12th house , rahu in ascendant with saturn in 5th aspected by mars , rahu in the ascendant saturn in 5th and jupiter in 8th house , for libra ascendant if saturn is in 8th house mars is in the ascendant and jupiter is in 8th house , 7th lord in 6/8/12th house moon in 5th and saturn and mandi occuping the ascendant , jupiter in its debilitation sign 5th lord in a fixed sign and either conjoined with or aspected by a debilitated planet , rahu in the ascendant venus & jupiter conjoined with moon & saturn & lagna lord in 8th house , malefics in the ascendant sun in 12th mars saturn & mercury in5th with 5th lord occupiying 8th house , sun & saturn are in 5th house wanning moon in 7th rahu in the ascendant & jupiter in 12th house .
According to arutkodi sirpasastra kannadi ( tamil ) if the length or breath of a building is 44 feet there will be loss of wealth and ghosts will live in that building besides loss of eye sight to the owner / inmates . If it is 67 feet it would cause loss of wealth and the owner / inmates will be haunted by ghosts , out of the four veethis in vastu the outer most one is paisacha veethi the purpose of which is to allow some free space all around the building so that when any sort of adverse energy in the form of ghosts spirits and others comes near a building it is prevented from entering into the building by the power of digbandhana / binding the directions carried out during the gruharavesha and as a result it hovers around the building and moves away , if paisacha veethi is either absent or blocked by extensions in the building upto the boundary of the plot such a building is prone to attack by spirits & ghosts as they may enter into the building at such points where there is a breach in the boundary of the building due to extension , effective remedy a coconut should be broken on the threshold of the main entrance on new moon and full moon days and its pieces must be kept in the four corners of the property and they should be collected & thrown into garbage on the next day morning , neem leaves are used for chasing away ghosts & spirits keeping neem & tulsi leaves inside the house at main door will prevent negative forces from entering in to the building .
