Cyclone
1. Vedic / Samhita Astrology – The base science of storms
In Brihat Samhita, weather is not from Moon alone, it’s 4 planets together:
A. The 4 Karakas for Cyclone:
- Moon – Water, sea, tides. Weak / afflicted Moon = churning of ocean
- Saturn – Vayu tattva, pressure, cold wind, depression
- Rahu – Unnatural expansion, sudden intensification, breaking of normal path, storm surge
- Mars – Speed, gust, destructive energy, landfall impact
Formula: Moon + Saturn + Rahu in Kendra with Mars aspect = Samudra Kshobha Yoga = Cyclone.
B. Houses in Mundane Chart:
India’s chart or New Moon chart is used.
- 4th house = weather, land, agriculture
- 8th house = sudden disasters
- 12th house = losses from water
If malefics transit 4th, and Moon is in 8th or 12th, cyclone is seen.
C. Rashis:
- Water signs – Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces = reservoir
- Air signs – Gemini, Libra, Aquarius = wind movement
Cyclone forms when planets move from Vayu rashi to Jal rashi. That’s why Bay of Bengal cyclones peak when Sun is in Libra/Scorpio – air to water transition.
D. Nakshatras most linked to storms:
- Ashlesha, Jyeshtha, Moola, Revati, Shatabhisha – all ruled by water deities. Called Tikshna / Ugra nakshatras. When Moon, Mars or Rahu transits these during Amavasya/Purnima, old texts give storm warning.
- Bharani, Krittika, Ardra – Ardra literally means storm, ruled by Rudra. Any planet in Ardra at 6°40′ to 20° Gemini is Vayu trigger.
2. Jaimini & Nadi Patterns
- Jaimini: If Atmakaraka is afflicted by Rahu and Amatyakaraka is Moon in 3rd/6th house, Vayu prakopa happens.
- Bhrigu Nadi: Saturn + Moon conjunction in Pisces or Cancer is called Pravahana Yoga – floods and cyclonic circulation. Saturn retrograde + Moon waning = depression intensifies.
3. Western / Tropical Weather Astrology
- Lunation Chart: New Moon and Full Moon before the cyclone sets the window. If Mars is angular (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th) in that lunation chart and Saturn squares it, storm forms in next 14 days.
- Mars-Saturn Cycle: Every 2 years Mars conjuncts Saturn. 60-90 days after this conjunction is high cyclone probability.
- Uranus & Neptune: Uranus = sudden wind gusts, Neptune = ocean. Uranus opposite Neptune was active in 1999 Odisha Super Cyclone era. Modern weather astrologers watch outer planets for super cyclone years.
- Fixed Stars: If Sun/Moon near Antares (9° Sagittarius) or Aldebaran during eclipse season, texts predict violent storms.
4. Chinese Astrology – Lo Pan / Feng Shui
- Cyclone = excess of Water element destroying Fire.
- Year with strong Water (Ren, Gui) + clash with Fire branches (Wu, Si) = typhoon year.
- Direction: Southeast (Xun Gua) is wind. When annual flying star 5 Yellow or 1 White goes to Southeast, that coast is vulnerable.
5. Numerology – The complete system for cyclones
This is used for naming and timing, not formation.
A. Pythagorean / Western Numerology:
You convert cyclone name to numbers.
- 1, 10, 19 = Sun – first storm of season, leadership, rapid formation
- 2, 11, 20 = Moon – water, tide, emotional panic, high surge
- 3 = Jupiter – expansion to Very Severe / Super
- 4 = Rahu – abnormal track, re-curve
- 5 = Mercury – speed of movement, 15-20 kmph drift
- 6 = Venus – heavy rain
- 8 = Saturn – long duration, slow-moving depression
- 9 = Mars – destructive wind speed, landfall impact
Most deadly cyclones in history total to 9, 11, or 22.
B. Chaldean – More accurate for name:
Chaldean values are different for R, etc. Chaldean looks at:
- Total of name: If total is 13, 16, 18, 19 – called karmic numbers, indicates uprooting.
- Compound numbers like 11, 22, 23 – Master numbers give sudden intensification.
C. Lo Shu Grid / Chinese Numerology:
Date of formation is placed in Lo Shu grid.
- Missing 5 (center) = instability, no balance = cyclone not weakening
- Multiple 8s = Saturn repetition = deep depression stays long
- Presence of 4-9-2 diagonal = water-fire clash diagonal, classic for Bay of Bengal in Oct-Nov.
D. Date Numerology – How days are read:
- Date total 2, 7 = Moon/Ketu = water events
- Date total 8, 17, 26 = Saturn = depression phase
- Date total 9, 18, 27 = Mars = peak intensity and landfall
- Year 2026 = 2+0+2+6 = 10 = 1 – Sun year. Sun year brings 1st cyclone to be strong, because Sun rules leadership of season.
E. Personal Impact Numerology:
If your personal day number + cyclone date number = 9, you are advised to avoid coast. For example, if you are born on 9th, 18th, 27th, any landfall on 9, 18, 27 affects you more – this is how people check travel.
6. Combined Synthesis Rule
In all branches, a real cyclone is NEVER judged by one factor.
Classic combo taught to students: Water planet afflicted + Air planet active + Mars for speed = Cyclone
Vedic says Moon+Saturn+Rahu, Western says Moon+Uranus+Neptune+Mars, Numerology says 2+8+4+9 numbers, Chinese says Water excess with Wind Gua.October-November is universally marked because Sun is weakest (debilitated in Libra), so Agni cannot control Jala and Vayu. That’s why North Indian Ocean season is post-monsoon.

Earthquake
THE predictions of earthquakes in different part of the world is an important subject in Mundane Astrology. It has been ascertained that earthquakes are caused by the action of eclipses, and through the position of planets in the four fixed signs, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, and more especially Taurus and Scorpio . The following rules have been laid down by various writers, to which we have supplemented some notes and comments.
1. Earthquakes generally follow close on the heels of eclipses and especially in those countries where the eclipse falls on the meridian or nadir. Also if there be any planets in fixed signs at the moment of eclipse, then earthquakes will occur in those parts of the world where such planets are either rising, setting, culminating, or on the nadir. Thus, if, at an eclipse, the planet Saturn should be in a fixed sign, and distant 45 degrees from the meridian, then earthquakes will occur in that part of the world which is the same distance from Greenwich, east or west, according to the position of Saturn.
2. At the period of the earthquake many aspects will be found between the planets at the time, but specially the planets will form numerous aspects with the previous eclipse and the planets’ places at such time. Thus an eclipse may presignify an earthquake, but it will not come to pass until it is aspected by some planet, or numerous aspects are formed by the planets to the place of the eclipse.
3. Earthquakes happen more frequently when there are planets, especially Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter and Mars, in the signs Taurus and Scorpio.
4. Earthquakes also happen in those localities where great conjunctions of the planets fall on the cusp of the fourth house. For example, a map should be erected for the time of the great conjunctions of planets, and whenever such conjunction falls on the nadir, or cusp of the fourth house, an earthquake is sure to Occur.
5. The planet Jupiter when in Taurus or Scorpio, and in conjunction, opposition and parallel with Mercury, is one of the most prolific sources of earthquakes.
6. Observe the planets’ places at each quarterly figures, and at the New Moon nearest such Ingress, and note in what part of the world the malefics are placed on the cusp of the fourth house. In this locality seismic disturbances will occur.
7. Earthquakes generally happen when there are many planets on or near the four cardinal points, i.e., the first degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.
8. The countries and localities in which earthquakes will happen can be known in two ways. First, by reference to the signs ruling the different countries and cities, and secondly, by noting the actual longitude in which eclipses, planetary conjunctions, and positions at the four Ingresses, are vertical to the meridian or on the nadir. The signs in which such eclipses, conjunctions, etc., occur should also be noted.
9. Earthquakes may also occur near the perihelion of grea comets, that is, at the time when great comets are nearest the Sun or Earth.

Lunar Eclipse
1 – The astronomical phenomena of moon becoming partly or fully invisible from certain area of earth due to the earth blocking sunrays to it and casting instead its shadow on it it is called lunar eclipse . The moon does not have its own light .Its visible from earth only due to the sunrays reflecting from it to the earth .
2 – The lunar eclipse takes place on purnima ( the full moon night ) only .But it is not necessary that there is an eclipse on all purnimas .
3 – The entire moon is not visible from a certain area of the earth due to earth’s shadow covering its entire mass it is called full lunar eclipse in that part of the earth from where it is not visible at all .
4 – Partial Lunar Eclipse If only a part of the moon is covered by the earth’s shadow and is not visible from a particular part of earth it is called partial lunar eclipse in that part of the earth .
5 – Lunar eclipse can take place thrice in a year at most or at least once in a year . Sometimes it is not there at all in a year .
6 – The moon orbits around the earth while the earth orbits around the sun . as a result the moon too ends up orbiting around the sun along with the moon .In this astronomical phenomena of earth orbiting around the sun and the moon orbiting around the earth as also the sun the three heavenly bodies often occupying a rectilinear position ( in one straight line ) with the earth landing itself between the sun and the moon generally on purnima ( or full moon days ) In such a scenario the earth ends up blocking the sun rays towards the moon and casting its shadow on it . the earth’s shadow cast on the moon makes the later invisible , partly or fully depending upon whether the moon falls in umbra on penumbra and causes the occurrence of total or partial lunar eclipse . Incidentally umbra and penumbra are simply two types of shadows . When an opaque object blocks the rays from an extended light sources ( like sun or a candle flame not a point source like a pin hole then a central area on the other side of the object gets totally devoid of the light rays while another area around the central area are only partially devoid of light rays . The area totally devoid of the light of the source and rendered completely invisible are called umbra while the area partially devoid of the light source and rendered partly invisible are called penumbra .
7 – Influence of eclipses on metals , things , and grains etc in each month
Chaitra : Grains are expensive in coming months
Baisakh : Grains are cheap , ghee is expensive and rains are sufficient
Jyestha : Grains , oils , oil material , gur , khand are cheap
Aashadh : Grains , ghee , oil material gur khand , cotton and yarn are expensive
Shravan : Grains are expensive but juicy materials are cheap
Bhadrapad : Grains are cheap , gur , khand , ghee , and oil materials are expensive
Ashwin : Grains and cotton are expensive
Kartik :Grains are cheap and easily available
Margsheersh : Grains are expensive in coming months
Paush Grains such as wheat , gram , ghee , oil materials , gur , khad ,etc are expensive
Maagh : Grains , ghee oil materials , gur , khand are expensive
Phalgun : Grains are expensive initially but cheap later on .Ghee , oils gur khand are expensive .
8 – Results of weekdays falling on lunar eclipse
Sunday : When lunar eclipse is on Sunday . Silver is cheap . Wheat linseed , cotton , red things are expensive .
Monday : Ghee , oils , oil material are expensive . Cotton and yarn become expensive after 2 months
Tuesday : Wheat , linseed etc grains become expensive quickly . Cotton , yarn etc are also expensive . The grocery materials such as rayee ( mustard ) , methi become expensive after 4 months .
Wednesday : Metals such as gold , silver , copper are expensive
Thursday : Ghee , oils , materials , are expensive but cotton and yarn are cheap
Friday : Cotton and yarn ae cehap but prices are high after 3 months
Saturday : Mustard , til ( sesame ) , oil materials , iron , steel , black cothes are expensive after 6 months

Solar Eclipse
1 ) The solar eclipse occurs on amavasya . When the orbits of the moon and the earth are on the same plane then the solar eclipse is possible on every amavasya ( moonless night ) .
2 ) Solar eclipse can occur four or five times at the max and at least twice in a year .
3 ) Solar eclipse takes place on an amavasya when the moon is in the middle of the sun and the earth on the same plane .
4 ) The occurence of a solar eclipse in an astronomical phenomenon quite similar to that of lunar eclipse . The sole diffrence lies in the fact that the solar eclipse is formed as the moon while orbiting around the earth lands itself between the sun and the earth and ends up blocking the sun rays to the earth .This results in moon casting its shadow both teh umbra and penumbra on the earth .The area under moon’s umbra on the earth receives absolutely no sunlight and the sun becomes totally invinsisble from that area .Thus for the area under moon’s umbra there is total solar eclipse .On the other hand the area under moon’s penumbraon the earth does receive sunlight only partial visible from that area for which it is partial solar eclipse .
5 ) Total solar eclipse will be on those parts of the earth which are under the sahdow of the moon . It is called all eclipsing solar eclipse also. Total eclipse lasts for few minutes only on a particular part of the earth .
6 ) An all eclipsing solar eclipse cannot last for more than 7.5 minutes duration .
7 ) On both the sides of the shadow of the moon there are sub shadows.Partial eclipse is seen from those parts of the earth which come under these sub shadows . that part of the sun becomes dim and shadowy where the rays don’t reach .At such time of partial eclipse the heat of the sun also decreases . This is known as partial eclipse .
8 ) Since the moon is very small in comparison to the earth its shadow reaches a very small part of the earth . The solar eclipse will be seen in that area where teh sun rays do not reach .
9 ) There can never be a solar eclipse on the whole earth at one time . As the moon advances in the orbit its shadow also movcs on the earth .
10) Rahu & ketu are responsible for solar & lunar eclipses this has been decribed in detail in the 9th chapter of the first part of vishnu purana .
