Electronic City, Bangalore is one of the most interesting places to read through multiple earth-science systems because its physical facts are very clear.
Core Facts:
Location 12°51’N 77°40’E / 12.85°N, 77.67°E, Elevation ~874 meters above sea level on the Deccan Plateau, ~900m average for Bangalore, Southeast of Bangalore city. Built in 1978 by R.K. Baliga as 3 phases – Phase 1, 2, 3 over 332 acres in Konappana Agrahara and Doddathogur.
Here is how each system reads it:
1. Vastu Shastra
Electronic City sits in the Agneya / Southeast direction from Bangalore’s city center. In Vastu, SE is Agni (fire) corner – ideal for electricity, electronics, transformation, and industry. That is a perfect match for an IT / electronics industrial township.
Topography: Bangalore generally slopes from west to east and north to south, with Electronic City on the lower southeastern side. Vastu prefers North and East lower, South and West higher. This area is relatively lower than central Bangalore, which favours water flow and settlement for residential use, but for large industry you want to compensate with higher compound walls / buildings on South-West.
For a plot / office there: Most builders advertise as Vastu compliant. The ideal Vastu orientation here is East or North facing entrance, keep Brahmasthan (center) open, heavy structures and server rooms in SW, water storage in NE.
2. Feng Shui (Form and Compass School)
In Form School, Electronic City is in a valley-like basin between slightly higher western ridges. Good Feng Shui needs Black Tortoise behind (support) in North/NW and Phoenix in front in South/SE. Bangalore’s higher ground to the NW acts as Tortoise, and the open plains towards Hosur / Tamil Nadu to the SE act as bright hall (Ming Tang) where Qi can collect – excellent for growth and expansion.
The two main roads – Hosur Road (NH44) and elevated expressway – act as strong Dragon and Tiger arms carrying Qi. In Compass School, Bangalore at ~12.8N is in Li (South) facing area, very Yang, Fire energy – again good for tech, visibility, innovation. Many offices are marketed as Feng shui / Vastu compliant for this reason.
Cure: Avoid buildings directly under the elevated highway (cutting Sha Qi), use water features in SE to enhance Wealth corner.
3. Geomancy (Western & Arabic Ilm al-Raml)
Classic geomancy looks for energy intersections. Electronic City lies on granite gneiss of Deccan Plateau – considered a very stable, low-geopathic stress base compared to sedimentary basins. The three phases forming a triangular spread is seen as a Trinity figure (Laetitia) – auspicious for joyful expansion.
If you do a geomantic shield chart for its establishment year 1978, the ruler is Saturn (structure, industry) – perfect for an industrial park intended to last decades.
4. Geodesy
From a geodesy perspective, this is pure earth measurement.
- Lat/Long: 12.85N is close to the equator, so solar angle is high year-round, lower shadow variance. Good for passive solar design.
- UTM Zone: 43N / 44N boundary, WGS84.
- Altitude 874m: Above the smog inversion layer that affects lower cities, giving better ventilation. The Deccan Plateau is seismically Zone II (Low Risk) – excellent for stable construction.
- The land is hard rock, requiring raft / pile foundations but giving very low subsidence.
5. Tiang Seri / Thai & Malay Earth Spirit Tradition
Tiang Seri tradition looks for the presence of guardian trees and land spirit (Phra Phum). Electronic City was built clearing scrub jungle and eucalyptus plantations. In this system, land that was previously forest with old ficus / neem / banyan trees retains strong spirit.
You will still find old large Ficus religiosa (Peepal) and Azadirachta indica (Neem) preserved in Phase 1 and around the lakes (like Doddathogur Lake). Tiang Seri reading would say: do not cut those old trees, build a small San Phra Phum (spirit house) in the NE corner of the plot facing East, and keep the lake / water body to the East for cooling the land spirit. This matches what Infosys and Wipro campuses actually did – preserved large trees.
6. Maharishi Sthapatya Veda
MSV is stricter than Vastu. Requirements:
- East facing is supreme (sunrise = Soma). Electronic City grid is slightly tilted SE-NW, not cardinal. For MSV compliance, you need to create a cardinal-aligned inner building within the plot.
- Brahmasthan: Must be completely open and skylit. The big IT campuses violate this with central atriums that are built-up, which MSV says blocks cosmic coherence.
- Slope: MSV requires slope to East and North. The natural slope to SE is partially acceptable but needs leveling to perfect East slope.
- Result: The area as a whole is not MSV-perfect due to highway noise and non-cardinal layout, but an individual villa or office can be made MSV by using exact measurements (Vastu Purusha Mandala) and placing entrance in East.
7. Bau-Biologie (German Building Biology)
This system measures physical building health:
- Positive: Elevation 874m gives lower radon accumulation than valleys. Hard granite reduces earth radiation. Good wind from SE keeps air exchange high.
- Concern: High density of telecom towers, high-tension lines, and IT park servers = high electrosmog. Bau-Biologie limit for sleeping areas is < 0.1 µW/m². In Electronic City, measured values near towers are much higher.
- Soil: Laterite and red loamy soil, good drainage, but low water retention – need rainwater harvesting.
- Recommendation: Use shielded cabling, avoid metal bed frames, use natural materials (mud brick, lime) if building a home, and keep bedrooms in lowest EMF corner.
8. Astrology
Vedic Astrology: Bangalore is under Vrushabha Rashi belt traditionally. Electronic City’s coordinates 12°51’N falls in Hasta Nakshatra zone (depending on Ayanamsa) ruled by Moon/Savitur – skill with hands, electronics. Its foundation 1978 was in Vedic year with Saturn in Leo – Karma of building an empire of workers. The SE direction is ruled by Venus / Shukra – luxury, technology, foreign income – which explains the IT boom.
Western Tropical: At 12N, Sun is very strong. The area is influenced by Virgo / Libra cusp – Virgo = service, analysis, IT services; Libra = global partnerships.
For a person, if your own 10th house (career) or 11th house (gains) connects with SE direction, Electronic City will be supportive.
9. Numerology
- Electronic City: E(5)+L(3)+E(5)+C(3)+T(2)+R(9)+O(6)+N(5)+I(9)+C(3) = 50, City C(3)+I(9)+T(2)+Y(7)=21. Total 71 = 7+1=8. 8 is Saturn – industry, hard work, delayed but massive success. Very fitting for an industrial township.
- E-City / E City nickname: 5+3+9+2+7 = 26 = 8 again.
- PIN Codes: 560100 (Phase 1) = 5+6+0+1+0+0=12=3 (Jupiter – expansion, knowledge), 560105 (Phase 2) = 17=8 again. So Phase 2 is double Saturn – heavy industry, slow initial growth then dominance, which matches its history.
- Establishment 1978: 1+9+7+8=25=7 (Ketu – technology, electronics, detachment, research).
Overall, the numerology is 3-7-8 combination – 3 for IT knowledge, 7 for electronics/research, 8 for large-scale industry.
Synthesis: Almost all systems agree on one thing – Electronic City is a Fire-energy, Saturn-ruled, southeastern expansion zone. Vastu and Feng Shui both call it an Agni / Li fire zone ideal for electronics. Geodesy and Bau-Biologie say it’s geologically stable but electromagnetically noisy. Tiang Seri and MSV warn to respect old trees and keep center open and east-facing.
